Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Institute of Technology (IOT), University of Kashmir conducted one day technical/educational tour to Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Srinagar,
which took place on 26.09.2024 in which a total of 35 students from B.Tech 8thand M.Tech 4th semester of our Department participated in the event. The students were accompanied to the site by department faculty members Er. RoufulAlam Bhat, Dr Bilal Ahmad Malik, Dr Mohammad Ayoub Sofi,and Dr Shazia Ashraf. The tour captured the significant learnings and site visits that contributed to the academic growth of the participants particularly in the field of communication engineering (audio/video transmission and reception).

TED-X NIT Srinagar, under the banner of Explore -X organised a Technical Speaker Talent hunt, at the Dept. of ECE, Where many students delivered technical talks.The Explore-X event is a precursor to the main event organised by NIT Srinagar and held at University of Kashmir,The best speakers selected from the Explore-X will be part of the main event. Ms. Aroos Rasool and Mr. Hadi Badri of the Dept. of ECE were declared as winners and will hence represent the Dept. at TED-X NIT.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering conducted a highly engaging online seminar titled "Artificial Intelligence: Skilling Yourself for the Future" on the 3rd of September, 2024.
The event brought together students, faculty members, and external participants to discuss the latest trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how individuals can prepare themselves for the evolving landscape of technology. The seminar was conducted in a hybrid format, with participants attending both online via Google Meet and in-person at the Zakura Campus. The primary aim of the seminar was to equip students and faculty members with an understanding of the advancements in AI and how to develop skills relevant to the future job market. The discussions emphasized the importance of staying up-to-date with AI trends and innovations to be future-ready. The students of Degree College ,Athura,Baramullah,paid a visit to the lab facilities of the Department on 2nd September 2024, where Ms. Aroos Rasool, Head Girl,8th semester ECE made them abreast with the facilities present in the department.The students were acquainted with various prospects in ECE branch and STEM education.
Er. Rouf Ul Alam and Dr. Abdul Mueed hafiz, Sr. Assistant Professors of the dept. secured a Patent on a novel device to check for hazardous and abnoxious gases in tunnels and deep wells before any manual works.

HiQmah, a prominent skill development organization dedicated to bridging the gap between academia and industry, in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, recently organized a one-day Corporate Readiness Workshop for college students in Jammu & Kashmir. The workshop, designed to prepare students for the professional world, was conducted over five hours and divided into two interactive sessions of 2.5 hours each.

The event took place on 22nd August, 2024 and featured Er. Aijaz, a distinguished alumnus of the department and currently a Senior System Engineer at Qualcomm.
Er. Aijaz, who has an impressive academic and professional background, qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in 2019. He went on to complete his Master of Technology (M.Tech) from IIT Jammu, where he graduated as a Gold Medalist. His journey from being a student at the University of Kashmir to securing a pivotal role at Qualcomm served as an inspiring example for the current students.
During the event, Er. Aijaz shared his experiences and provided invaluable insights into the rapidly evolving tech industry. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the University of Kashmir recently organized a one-day technical tour on 20th August, 2024 to the Upper Sindh Hydroelectric Power Station. The tour provided students with a hands-on learning experience, allowing them to explore the practical aspects of power generation and the functioning of a hydroelectric power station.
During the visit, students were given an in-depth overview of the station's operations, including the mechanics of hydroelectric power generation, the role of turbines and generators, and the significance of such power stations in meeting the energy demands of the region. The tour also included a detailed explanation of the environmental and engineering challenges involved in operating a hydroelectric power facility.
